Bridal Boutique FAQs
We know wedding dress shopping comes with lots of questions. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about bridal appointments, pricing, timelines, alterations, and what to expect when shopping at Bride To Be Couture in Sacramento.
-
Our wedding dresses range from $2,500 to $20,000, with the majority of our collection falling between $2,500 and $6,500. Each gown is selected for quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design.
-
We strongly recommend purchasing your wedding gown 9–12 months before your wedding date. Most of our gowns are made to order and take approximately six months to arrive, depending on the designer.
Once your gown arrives, we require approximately 10 weeks for alterations to ensure the best possible fit.
For brides on a shorter timeline, we offer a limited selection of off-the-rack sample gowns, or you may visit our sister boutique, Olive & Ivory Bride, for additional ready-to-wear options.
-
Yes. While most of our gowns are made to order, we do offer a small selection of off-the-rack sample gowns available for purchase. These are ideal for brides with shorter timelines or those seeking immediate availability.
-
We carry a carefully curated selection of international and couture bridal designers. Our collection is chosen for craftsmanship, fit, and design integrity. You can view a current list of designers on our Designers page.

Appointments & The Experience
-
Yes. We are by appointment only. This ensures a private fitting room and a dedicated stylist for your visit.
Walk-ins may be accommodated when availability allows, but brides with scheduled appointments are always given priority.
-
Our first and second bridal styling appointments are designed to provide a personalized, one-on-one experience and do not require a reservation fee. However we do implement a $75, 48 hour, cancellation policy.
If a third appointment is needed, a $150 extended consultation fee applies to allow for additional time, in-depth styling support, and decision-making.
-
Standard bridal appointments allow up to five guests, in addition to the bride. This guest limit helps ensure a comfortable, personal experience for everyone.
If you’re hoping to bring a larger group, please contact us to discuss private appointment options.
-
We recommend wearing a strapless bra or undergarments you feel comfortable in, as your stylist will assist you during your appointment.
We provide pedestals to mimic the height of heels, but you’re welcome to bring your own shoes if it helps you envision your final look.
-
Champagne is welcome! If you’ll need glasses provided, please let us know in advance as availability is limited.
We kindly ask that food not be brought into the boutique, but we’re happy to recommend nearby restaurants.
-
While we love children, we strongly recommend not bringing little ones to bridal appointments. If bringing a child is unavoidable, we ask that a guest supervise them at all times to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

No. While we highly recommend The Alterations Suite for their expertise with our gowns and designers, you are not required to use them. You are welcome to work with an outside seamstress if you prefer.
That said, many brides appreciate the convenience and continuity of having their bridal stylist and alterations team working together throughout the process.
-
Alteration costs vary based on the gown, the type of work required, and your wedding timeline. Most brides should plan to budget between $800 and $1,200 for bridal alterations.
Your seamstress will review your gown in detail during your first fitting and provide guidance on expected costs and timing.

-
Alterations typically begin 8–12 weeks before your wedding date, once your gown has arrived in-store. This allows adequate time for fittings, adjustments, and final refinements to ensure the best possible fit.
Your stylist will guide you through scheduling your fittings with The Alterations Suite once your gown arrives.
-
Not necessarily — and this is completely normal.
Wedding gowns are ordered based on your largest measurement according to the designer’s size chart. Because bodies vary, most gowns require alterations to achieve a truly custom fit. Alterations refine the gown to your body, ensuring comfort, movement, and confidence on your wedding day.
-
Most wedding gowns can be altered up to two sizes without issue. We recommend ordering the gown that best fits your measurements at the time of purchase and making adjustments closer to your wedding date during alterations.
Your seamstress at The Alterations Suite will assess fit at each appointment and guide you through any necessary changes.
-
The Alterations Suite specializes exclusively in bridal and formalwear alterations, including:
Hemming and bustle creation
Bodice and strap adjustments
Sleeve additions or modifications
Fit refinements through the bust, waist, and hips
Custom tailoring for couture gowns
Each gown is approached individually, with attention to fabric, structure, and design integrity.
